Ashleigh grew up playing in the woods and tinkering with art supplies. Her passion for nature and creativity is infused in her work with children. Ashleigh has always wanted to be a teacher. She studied Human Development and Elementary Education at Wheelock College in Boston and then pursued a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City. After teaching in NYC, she moved back to Boston. Ashleigh has been teaching first and second grade for over 10 years. With a passion for curriculum design, social justice, and meaningful project-based learning, Ashleigh is excited to join the Croft community where this type of teaching and learning is valued. Ashleigh believes the social-emotional curriculum is just as important as the academic curriculum. She values taking time to foster a strong classroom community and self-awareness among students. Outside of the classroom, Ashleigh enjoys bike riding, hiking, and exploring new places with her husband, daughter, and goldendoodle.
