Jes Kakar

Science Teacher

Jes Kakar is a creative soul with a passion for Science. Her journey in science began as a child when her father, a Nuclear Engineer, introduced her to advanced science projects with electrodes and home grown mold, as young as the fourth grade! The commitment never ceased, as she completed a thesis with the University of Connecticut as a Marine Scholar in High School, and entered her Undergraduate program of Marine Science- however, upon enrolling in a general studies class in Psychology, Jes went to an elementary school to observe childrens’ behavior, and she felt like she was home. She now holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Humanities from the University of Maine at Machias, alongside a Master’s Degree in Science Education, and has 7 years of teaching experience in cities. Jes’s favorite part of teaching is the “Ah-ha” moment when students’ eyes light up and they understand something for the first time. In her time off, she runs her own jewelry business, makes many different types of crafts, enjoys reading in her hammock, going for walks with her husband and their dog Rocky, and eating yummy foods.
